CHALLENGE |
 |
Many of our clients using Projectware had a need for employees to access the
electronic planner features of Projectware while away from their desk.
Therefore, Objectware need to create a lightweight solution to provide email,
contacts, task, expense and scheduling functionality to run on a hand held
device. The goal was to have the information available even when wireless
connectivity to the internet was unavailable. Therefore, the application had to
download and store relevant information, allow information to be edited on the
hand-held device while disconnected and synchronize the two datasets (server
and hand-held) seamlessly on demand.

SOLUTION |
 |
Objectware
built on our existing Projectware expertise to develop a Palm OS planner
application and data synchronization software utilizing the rich set of
electronic planner features built into the Palm Operating System.
-
The Projectware Calendar is fully integrated with the Palm OS® Date Book
application. Appointments created in Projectware can be easily synchronized
with Palm devices and vice versa.
-
Projectware's Task Management component is compatible with the Palm OS® To Do
List. You may create tasks in Projectware or on your Palm and synchronize the
data through your PC. As tasks are created, assigned and completed, relevant
information is transferred between employees.
-
Projectware's Contact Management component is also compatible with the Palm.
Synchronized contacts will appear in your Palm OS® Address Book. As new contact
information is added or existing contact information is updated (on either end)
the data is synchronized between the Palm device and Projectware.
-
Projectware allows employees to track an enter time and expenses and managers
to administer subordinates' time and expenses while away from the office. The
application provides summary views (weekly by employee as an example) as well
as individual detailed views of time and expense entries.
With the Objectware’s ProjectPalm software, maintaining customer contacts,
scheduling meetings, managing tasks, and entering time and expense can be done
from either the desk top or the Palm Pilot. With synchronization on demand, the
office can now fit into your palm of your hand.
